7 weeks old and a jail break to celebrate!

The pups had another busy week! More playing, eating, playing, sleeping, playing, growing, playing… Friday all the pups and their Momma went to the v-e-t for first check ups, jabs, pedicures… we had fun! 6 puppies and their momma in one exam room! Puppies discovered Momma’s leash is a great tug of war toy! Thankfully no reaction to their shots. Shelby also had her annual dogtor visit and her annual shots except for Lepto, it’s a live vaccine and she still comfort feeds the pups so we didn’t want to take any chances. She’ll get that jab after the little ones go home.

Jailbreak! To celebrate their last week with us, the puppies destroyed Momma’s door and now their PuppyPen is have Puppy Jail. They also have found a few weak spots in the chicken wire lining on our wrought iron fencing so the free exploring all together is also at an end. We’ll take one or two at a time down to the rain garden forrest to explore, but it’s pretty tough keeping all 6 in sight at any one time.

The pups had their weekly weighing last night and all still doing great! This week we have the girls - Bellanca 79 ozs.; Jenny 92.5 ozs.; Fairchild 102.5 ozs. And the boys - Curtiss 107 ozs.; Taylor 101 ozs.; Stinson 89.5 ozs. They are likely going to be able to finish their own meals these last days with us. None of the adult beagles can get through the door anymore so they can only scrounge the puppy kibble that falls out of the PuupyPen/Puppy Jail. It will also get cooler closer to the weekend so lunch alfresco for the monsters.

Just a few more days with our monsters, we expect Taylor, Curtiss and Bellanca/Bella to go home on Saturday and on Sunday Fairchild/Maddie and Stinson start their new lives. We are still looking for the right family for Jenny, until we find them, she will be one of our family. Their go home toys all go in with the litter on Wednesday, those should be fun photos! Saturday morning will be final weighing and de-worming and naill clipping day followed by baths and new collars. We love each and every one of them and are hoping for the very best for them with their new families.
