Parmelee Beagles

Six weeks old!

The puppies are six weeks old now, time flies! They had a weighing and a de-worming and nail clipping to celebrate. All the pups are reserved and as soon as Shelby gets with the program and starts to wean them, we can start planning their go-homes. This Thursday they go to the vet for their first dogtor visit and first puppy shots. All of their go-home toys are here and they will go in the PuppyPen after the vet visit. Everyone is still doing a good job of going potty in the shavings or on the wee pads which is great! None of the pups are major chow hounds, we have to make sure they are all eating at meal times. they play a little, get a bite or two, play some more, and so on.

Each of the puppies comes out with us for awhile every day for some one on one time. We usually torture their daddy Mocha and Grandma Piper a bit with each pup as well. Piper is great at telling them when puppy teeth are not appreciated. Daddy just looks afraid. They are spending an hour plus outside every day, learning to climb and play with everything and pruning my patio plants. Shelby is trying to get them to play tag with her, so far they like the wrestling play more than tag. She keeps trying!

Nash/Moose is still our smallest, Talbot/Murphy is still our biggest, these two now have a 2 pound difference in their weights. Nash can still flip his big brother though. The three in the middle switched things around again this week, Bugatti/Beatrice is at the top closely followed by Hudson and then Tucker.

Week 6 weights:

Nash/Moose 73 ounces

Tucker 94 ounces

Hudson 97.7 ounces

Bugatti/Beatrice 98 ounces

Talbot/Murphy 104.4 ounces

In preparation for their go-homes soon, we are starting to send our families puppy tips, like puppy proofing, switching food, puppy teeth (ouch!) and other hopefully helpful items. Four of the five families already have another fur kid at home and we’ll be getting each of them a cloth with their puppy’s scent on it so the critters at home can start to get familiar with the new arrival.
